How to Sell Steem Cryptocurrency When Living in the United States
I have spent a lot of time on Steem writing articles and building up my reputation over the years. I think Steem was a great idea but one of the issues is how to sell Steem, especially if you live in the United States. Many of the most popular crypto wallets do not support Steem and it can be tricky finding information on which ones work with Steem and work in the USA with Steem!
What Wallets Support Steem in the US?
After a bit of research and frustrations trying suggested wallets that worked for Steem but not for people in the US, I finally found one!
I was able to sign up for a Bittrex account and successfully transfer my Steem to that account where I can exchange it for Bitcoin or US dollars. I can also sell Steem Dollars as well on Bittrex.
I did this in 2021, not in 2018 when many more wallets supported Steem and Steem for US citizens.
Why did I sell my Steem?
I used to post a lot on Steemit and loved the community but I rarely go there anymore. It seems as those most of the posts are spam and it has become a pay-to-play platform. I rarely find interesting posts on there and no one pays attention to my posts even with a 70 plus reputation score.
I am a real estate guy and I have decided to focus my time and efforts on virtual real estate now. Upland is my virtual real estate world of choice for the moment.
Did I have problems transferring my Steem to Bittrex?
There are instructions on how to transfer Steem to Bittrex on Bittrex and on Steemit. I followed those to a tee and sent a small test amount to see if it would work. When I clicked send on the Steemit site I got a loading circle and it never went away! I was not sure if I should cancel or resubmit so I waited. I waited hours and it never went away. I closed out the page and nothing ever transferred.
I tried again the next day and everything worked fine. I do not know if the Steemit site was having problems but if you do get the circle of spinning death, know that you are not the only one!
