Getting a real estate license can be difficult for some and easy for others. Some people are great test takers and some states have fewer requirements than others. There is much more to becoming a real estate agent than just getting a license. You have to take classes and pass an exam for your license, but the license and real estate classes do not teach you how to sell houses. One of the first actions may be to sign up for real estate classes, but before you sign up start telling people you are becoming an agent. The most important thing you can do as an agent is build your circle of influence. The more people you know and the more referrals you get, the more money you will make. If it takes four months to get your license or just one month, you can use that time to start spreading the word that you will be an agent. Even though I took my classes online, I think if you want to pursue real estate as a full-time career, it is best to take classes in person. I already talked about how important it is to network as an agent and you can start meeting people in the business when you take real estate classes. Real estate classes taken in person will have an experienced teacher, other like-minded students and guest speakers. The teacher, guest speakers and other students could help to kick-start your business.

Another important decision that should be decided well before you get your license is what office and broker you want to work with? Every real estate agent must work under a broker when they first get their license. A good broker with a lot of support can help a real estate agent succeed and succeed quickly. If a broker does not have much interest in helping their agents, it will be tough for a new agent succeed and learn the business.
