When I first started as a real estate agent, I found it to be much more challenging than I expected. I worked long hours, sometimes for a deal that went nowhere. I took people on showings, consuming my evenings and weekends. My phone rang more than I liked. The time I spent on most deals was very high, and the payouts were good, but not great. I didn’t see this as being my answer for true wealth building.

Listing REO (Real Estate Owned) properties was the answer
I found the winner. As banks come under ownership of properties, they need someone to list and sell them. Banks want the properties off of their inventory quickly. They want a specialist to help them, and I was determined to become that specialist.
While it may not be for everyone, for me, listing REOs was far more desirable than working with buyers. I was back in control of my schedule. I began building a consistent, steady stream of listings. I avoided many of the complexities and challenges agents commonly face.

I now regularly sell over 100 homes per year. I work during regular work hours. And I am not even putting in a full-time effort doing so. I have plenty of time for my family and to pursue other interests and longer term pursuits. I am building a large collection of rental properties. I recently purchased two businesses.
