A couple of months ago I was able to drive a Lamborghini Gallardo at Mile High Drives. It has always been a dream of mine to own exotic cars, and the first step was to actually drive some! Today I was able to race a Ferrari F430 on an autocross track. Gotham Dream Cars set up a race about 15 miles from me, which I saw advertised on TravelZoo. For $99 I was able to Race the Ferrari around the track three times. If you click on the link above that says “I got to Race a Ferrari!”, then it will take you to the video.
Driving a Ferrari
I have never driven a Ferrari, in fact I don’t know if I have ever sat in a Ferrari before. It was a very cool car and the sound on the video does not do the car justice. It was a beautiful sound coming from that V-8, much nicer than the v-10 Gallardo they had racing as well. Gotham Dream Cars did not let me get out of second gear, but the Ferrari went up to 80 MPH in second gear. It was a little intimidating at first taking the car through the cones, but it felt pretty natural on the third lap. I know I wasn’t breaking any records, but it felt like I was going a lot faster than the video shows.
As you can see in the video, the drive went by way too quick and I was just getting used to the car when I had to quit. This is the first time I have ever raced autocross and it was a blast. I could see how this could become very addicting to those with the time and money needed to put into it. I know a lot of people on the Porsche and Mustang forums I belong too, love autocross. Maybe I will have to look into this hobby a little more in the future!
If you read my Lamborghini article, you know I am a big believer in the law of attraction and doing things that make you happy. This made me extremely happy! I don’t have anymore drives planned, but I would really love to drive a V-12 Ferrari or Lamborghini soon. I would also love to drive a manual, since bother the Lamborghini and Ferrari I drove were E-gears (paddle shifting automatics). I know Mile High Drives has a V-12 Diablo for rent, but it is $600 for half a day. I am thinking that would be a great reward to give myself, if I accomplish a really big goal. Maybe, when I pay off my first rental property at the end of this year, that can be my reward as long as it’s not snowing!
